On March 26, a conversation recording between Kim Sae-ron’s close friend (referred to as “A”) and reporter Lee Jin-ho was released through the controversial YouTube channel, Garo Sero. In the clip, A claimed, “70% of the reason Sae-ron died was because of Kim Soo-hyun, 25% because of Lee Jin-ho, and the remaining 5% was her ‘New York husband.’”
According to A, Kim Sae-ron had a complicated and painful history with Kim Soo-hyun, dating back to their teenage years. “They started seeing each other when she was still a minor. From Kim Soo-hyun’s perspective, Sae-ron knew too much, she became his Achilles’ heel. I believe he tried to push her out in some way. It’s something she herself talked about,” A claimed.
“She once told me it was exhausting trying to keep her position as ‘the empress’ while dating Kim Soo-hyun,” A continued. “He kept bringing in more mistresses. Sae-ron knew a lot of what he did to her. She held a lot of resentment. I want to help her find peace.”
When asked about Kim Sae-ron’s family life, A shared, “Her mother played the role of manager. I don’t know what her father did. She often talked with her mom, and they seemed close. But maybe, from her point of view, the love she received still wasn’t enough.”
The channel also alleged that Kim Sae-ron’s ex-boyfriend was a trainee idol who continued to contact her after their breakup, reportedly asking for connections to entertainment agencies using pet names. This, according to A, provoked an angry reaction from her “New York husband,” who sent aggressive messages in response.
Suspicion was also raised over an interview in which the ex-boyfriend defended Kim Soo-hyun, stating, “Sae-ron didn’t die because of Kim Soo-hyun, she struggled because of her family’s lack of support.” The channel hinted that the interview may have been influenced by outside forces trying to clear Kim Soo-hyun’s name.
